A beach day or lounging by the pool isn't complete without a good book in my opinion. There is no better feeling than getting lost in a great read while feeling the sun and cool water on your skin. Here, I created a medley of some of my favorites, must reads, and what is on my list to read this summer for the first time! If you are a fellow lover of romance, self improvement, and light reads that get you lost in the pages, keep reading! (All books are linked through the underlined names and pictures!)
1) When Life Gives You Lululemons by Lauren Weisberger
Lauren Weisberger creates one of the most funny and captivating books I have ever read! A book about friendship, laughter, and justice for the main character is all rolled perfectly in this one. This one had me laughing in my chair at times and is one of those stories that has you rooting for the main character the entire time. It is a MUST if you are looking for a light read that will make you want to call up your girlfriends for an adventure when you are done with this one!
2) The Hopefuls By Jennifer Close
Jennifer Close became one of my favorite authors through this book. It has so many twists and turns in the plot and a couple moments where I audibly gasped. Jennifer writes about a couple that are trying to climb the political ladder in Washington D.C alongside another couple that they become insanely close to. This one tells a detailed dramatic story through laughter and feeling like the speaker is telling you this crazy story in their living room. It is between a light read and a deeper one, but it is so worth reading the intricacy of this deeply amazing plot of these couples at the breaking point of their marriage and politics.
3) Eleanor and Park by Rainbow Rowell
This one is a classic teen fiction/young adult book, but I had to put it in here for anyone that hasn't read it yet! It is just such a breezy read that will probably make you feel nostalgic of when you first fell in love and all of the beautiful stages of that told through Eleanor and Park's story. AND this book gets bonus points for taking place in the 80's!
4) Why Not Me? by Mindy Kaling
There are three reasons why I loved this book: It is down right hilarious, it gave me advice, and it was REAL! Mindy hits it out of the park with this collection of essays that are so honest and show the reality of her life in Hollywood. This is perfect if you only have time to read a few pages at a time as it is a collection of different topics and she gives the best nuggets of advice in here!
5) Girls in White Dresses by Jennifer Close
If you are a 20 something girl and have ever thought "What on Earth am I doing with my life?!" (Uhh, me!!) this is the book for you! This is such a sweet tale of friends that feel like everyone else is getting married, being successful, and doing everything they should be doing. BUT, they find peace in where they are at now and Jennifer Close tells this tale through humor and friendship. It's a MUST read!
6) Own Your Everyday by Jordan Lee Dooley
This is my favorite self imporvement book by far because Jordan keeps it so real. It is what inspired me to start my blog and my slogan, "A place for the everyday girl". She is the best motivator while treating you like a sister!
7) Live by Sadie Robertson
This is on my list to read for the summer, so I do not have an official review for it, but I have heard AMAZING things about it and Sadie as a person! I am so excited for some advice on how to truly live life to the fullest instead of just surviving.
8) Be Loved by Emma Mae Jenkins
Another one that is on my list to read! Emma is one of my favorite Christian influencers and I am so excited to read all the wisdom she poured into this book!
I hope you can take one of these books on your summer adventures of just to sit with some tea in the pool and read. All books are linked and can be clicked on straight to my LTK where I have placed them all together for you to buy!
with love,
Danielle
